The Best Farms in Morris County

Here's a list of the best pumpkin patches and apple-picking spots in Morris County...

There’s a chill in the air which means Fall is right around the corner. Time for apple picking, pumpkin picking, apple cider, Hayrides and more. Here’s a list of some of the best orchards and farms in Morris County to take the family for some yummy apples, and some family fun.

Alstede Farms, Chester

Spend the day picking apples, pumpkins, and more. They also have a unique apple cider mill tour, a giant corn maze, hayrides, and tons of fall activities for the whole family. There’s a snack bar, pony rides and they even host wine-tasting events for the adults on occasion.

Bader Farm, Pine Brook

At this 15 acre family owned farm you can pick your own pumpkins, apples, and an array of other veggies. They also sell a yummy selection of jams, jellies, local honey and don’t forget those gorgeous mums to decorate your home with.

Conklin Farm U-Pick, Montville

Haunted hayrides (or not) pick-your-own pumpkins, sunflower fields, corn mazes (for toddlers too) hot apple cider and homemade donuts make this a favorite family spot in the County. Although they don’t have apple picking, there’s no shortage of fun at this farm.

Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill, Chester

At this family owned farm, open Thursdays through Sunday and located in Downtown Chester, you can enjoy the corn maze with your little ones and pick your own pumpkins and apples. They host Cider Pressing Demo's on weekends in October at no charge too. Don’t forget to try their cider donuts.

Middle Valley Farms, Mendham

Open for the season starting on Sept. 28, 2019 you can enjoy picking pumpkins, hayrides, a 6 acre corn maze, hay maze and more at this large farm. Known for shipping their hay across the country, the scenic views are beautiful here. It’s a great place to host a private party too.

Ort Farms, Long Valley

A local favorite with a plethora of activities, you can explore the hay maze with your little ones or a corn maze for the more adventurous. You can also take a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkins. If you still need more to do, you can feed the friendly farm animals, take a train ride, a pony ride, or even a Monster Truck Ride! Don’t forget the apple cannon, and definitely take home a pie!

Parks Farm, Chester

Much more of an apple picking go to spot, you will find a variety of your favorites here. When you fill up on apples, you can take a free hayride in season and grab some pumpkins while you’re at it.

Riamede Farm, Chester

At this 68 acre farm you can pick-your-own apples and pumpkins. They offer free hayrides to all and have a section for picking your own tomatoes and corn too, when in season. They are a more laid back farm with no other activities for kids, but it’s a scenic beauty.

Stony Hill Farm Market, Chester

Not only can you pick apples and pumpkins here, there's also tons of activities for kids. A Barnyard board game, a 10 acre corn maze, rope maze, tile maze, playground and even a unique gemstone mining experience. I almost forgot, you can pick strawberries and some other yummy veggies here too!

Sun High Orchards,Randolph

Grab a snack in the market and grab a picnic table with your friends and family after you’ve picked some apples and pumpkins of your own. When you’re done relaxing you can visit the farm friendly animals and feed them too. You can also book a private party here and enjoy a bounce house and some hayrides.

Wightmans Farms, Morristown

A personal favorite, you can go apple picking, then hop on a hayride around the farm and hop off at the pumpkin patch to pick your own. Stop at one of the food trucks for a yummy snack, grab a pickle on a stick or some freshly popped popcorn with a cup of cider and sit on one of the picnic tables and watch your kids climb the haystacks and get lost in the mazes. Don’t leave without trying your hand at the pumpkin slingshots…. I’m the family champ for slingshots - just sayin….! Get here early on the weekends, this place gets jam packed!

Make sure to check with each farm for times and dates that they open for the season. Most won’t open for the fall season until September 28th. If I missed one of your local favorites, please share it with us!!
